Autona: You are one of the fastest rising stars and you also appeared in famous US-TV shows like "Human target" and "Fringe".  How does this feel to be in that kind of international shows?

Ali Liebert: Why, thank you! Working on big budget American series like Human Target, Fringe and Hellcats has been nothing short of excellent.  Guest starring as "Casper", the internationally renowned computer hacker (Human Target) was especially fun for me because I had to do a lot of research, which I love.  My Dad joked "you really must be a fantastic actress because you are hopeless on computers!".  He's kinda right. (laughing)

Autona: FRINGE is about strange FBI cases ... do you believe in things like that?

Ali Liebert: I have a huge imagination and sometimes it runs away with me. I think Fringe is one of the best shows on television and we're so lucky it shoots in beautiful Vancouver. I love watching it and stretching my belief in the unseen and the unknown; it's exciting to play 'what if' in your mind. That being said, I can't really watch any Sci-Fi shows at night... too scary! I won't sleep because my brain will be racing!

Autona: You also acted with famous artists like Ashley Judd... How important are these experiences for your own career?

Ali Liebert: In January I completed filming a lead role in a feature film directed by the legendary Robert Townsend. It is an edgy drama filled with heart, hope, humor, and triumph. The film, The Discarded Boys, stars Loretta Devine (For Colored Girls, Crash) Michael Clark Duncan (The Green Mile, The Whole Nine Yards), and Vivica Fox (Inde-pendence Day, Kill Bill). Working with these actors and other stars like Ashley Judd has been thrilling for me because I was able to catch a glimpse of their process. How do they memorize lines, how do they prepare themselves right before the camera rolls, do they like rehearsing? Being a humble observer is the true privilege when working alongside artists of this level of accomplishment.

Autona: By the way... do you have any acting idols?

Ali Liebert: Sure, Reese Witherspoon. Her versatility is beyond inspiring. Legally Blonde and Walk the Line... I mean come on. She is a true chameleon in regards to film genre and the characters she chooses; I really respect that. I'm dying to work with her and Tina Fey. Funny, strong women are my idols. Colin Firth is also pretty good (smiling).

Autona: What kind of genre do you prefer for new roles: SciFi, Drama, Comedy?

Ali Liebert: Honestly I love it all and am thankful that my skills have allowed me to work in a broad spectrum of projects. My resume is mostly comedy but this year both of my roles so far have been very emotionally demanding and quite dramatic (The Discarded Boys and Cyber Seduction). I like to keep fresh by doing Canadian indies and also big budget shows.

Autona: Can you tell us something about your current projects and plans for the near future?

Ali Liebert: After all the crying I've done in films this year, doing a comedy is definitely next on my to-do list! I have 3 features coming out this year (Afghan Luke, The Discarded Boys, Sisters & Brothers), a series currently on the air in Canada (Health Nutz) and am in rehearsals for a live musical revue show based on a web series I was a part of called The True Heroines. I am also a partner and founder of Sociable Films, a new film production company based in Vancouver.
I'm sitting in the Vancouver airport right now as I write this and I am very excited to be going to LA to see the rough cut screening of The Discarded Boys tonight. The film has already been accepted in the American Black Film Festival and will be the opening night film July 6, 2011 in Miami, FL.   I hear it's really hot in Miami in July!

Autona: Yeah, definitely. Well, thanks for the interview and good luck.

Ali Liebert: Thank you!
