Julie Westlake, singer of the US Hard Rock band Hydrogyn, told AUTONA everything about the new and harder album “Judgement” with a brand new line-up.
Autona: How was the feedback on your 3rd album "Judgement" Did you sell lots of copies and downloads?
Julie: The feedback has been good. Of course, not everyone is going to like it, but for the most part it’s been good. We haven't really had the chance to tour that album yet because I was a little under the weather last year, but internet and store sales have been going good and we hope to be able to get out and do some shows so people can hear the new stuff.
Autona: You released a cover of "Assault Attack", did you get a feedback by Michael Schenker himself?
Julie: Not from Michael. But Graham Bonnet is one of my friends on facebook, so we were able to get in touch with him and sent the song and we were given his approval, so that was cool. Maybe one of these days we will get Schenker’s thoughts.
| Autona: Do you have some shows in Germany in progress?
|
Julie: Not really. We just decided to go a little harder on this album to change it up a bit. It wasn’t my most favorite album, but a lot of people like it. We just always try to do something a bit different with each album, and so this one went in the heavier direction.
Autona: Let's talk about the crisis of the economy. Do you believe that Obama gets a grip or will he heave a bunch of empty promises?
Julie: Well, the economy is tough right now, and it makes it tough on bands that want to be out touring cause the money is just not there. It’s so expensive to tour because of the fuel prices and everything. As far as Obama goes, I just hope he makes some changes and things get easier for everyone.
Autona: What are your plans for 2012?
Julie: We have a new album that we will be releasing in Feb 2012. I think it’s best yet and I’m so excited for everyone to hear it. So I really hope to get back on the road and be doing a lot of shows and get to see all our fans again. And of course, most of all, we want to come to Germany and see all our fans there.
