Rachelle Ramm - From SIN CITY, California

D.R.: You're from California and your debut-EP "City of Sin" is the result of a cooperation with Hank Sherman (ex Mercyful Fate) from Denmark. What was the reason for this over-sea-connection?

Rachelle: I relocated to Copenhagen, Denmark for a few years and met Bjarne Holm, the drummer of Mercyful Fate. He played guitar with me in a band in Copenhagen. I met Hank Shermann at a Birthday party for Bjarne. I'm usually not shy and willing to jam with musicians and sing. Hank heard me one night and asked me to record a song called Barracuda by Heart. I was thrilled and we began to work together after that first studio date. I've written songs for years and we began to collaborate and create a lot of material together. Hank's raw guitar style fits very well with the different style of rough Alternative Rock I like.

D.R.: How would you describe your own music style and which artists are your sources of inspiration?

Rachelle: The music style is Sexy No Limits Rock. My heart lies with Grunge, Alternative Rock, and Hard Rock. Alice in Chains, Guns N Roses, Heart, Rob Zombie, Metallica, Drain STH are amongst my influences. Mix these with Hank's edgy guitar touch and we create a cocktail of Rachelle Ramm's music style.

D.R.: Did you ever listen to Mercyful Fate or King Diamond?

Rachelle: Yes, I own some Mercyful Fate records.

D.R.: You released your album without a label yet. What are your plans to push yourself and will you start in Europe, especially Denmark, Sweden, Germany or in North America.

Rachelle: We choose to take a (DIY) Do it yourself approach. I've had discussions with labels when I began to create my music style. It's important to establish myself and find my own path with out being shaped or pulled in different directions. I've been building my core foundation and now it's interesting to expand in European areas that appreciate Rock as well as North America?

D.R.: You've got many pictures on your album cover in different poses from Glam/Fashion (the one in the hotel) to a rocker style. What's your favourite kind of fashion?

Rachelle: I like them both very much! In my eyes, the styles collide into one which represents who I am. To me they are both Rock in there own way. To be honest I've never seen them different. It projects who I am and I have Rock in my veins.

D.R.: Will you play live on Germany's stages this year?

Rachelle: One week ago that was a possibility, but I am relocating back to California. In the future I would love to play in Germany and I do plan on it. The video "CITY OF SIN" was filmed in Berlin and we had a great time in that city. Germany is a great country, the people know how to appreciate hard core music.

D.R.: What are you doing right now and what are your future plans?

Rachelle: I'm recording a single to be released this spring. It's a very high energy song about drag racing. Hank and I are filming two videos one is off the City of Sin release called "NOT ORDINARY" and one will follow after the song we release about drag racing. Stay tuned for future tour plans www.rachelleramm.com or www.myspace.com/rachelleramm, I love to play live! Real talented musicians sound good live and on recordings. It feels great to prove that and get the crowd energy going.
